Willow Falls Farm Training Program

The American Saddlebred

The majority of the horses at Willow Falls Farm are American Saddlebreds. We love this breed for many reasons. Everything they do under the saddle they do effortlessly and naturally. They’re expressive, confident, and teach us to be brave and strong. In its history, the origins of the American Saddle Horse blended the beauty of the Arabian, the sturdiness of the Morgan, and the speed of the Thoroughbred. Because of his natural flexibility, good balance, and outstanding intelligence, the Saddlebred is, of all breeds, most adapted to show training. Our trainers also have experience training Hackney Ponies, Morgans and Standardbreds.

Performance

Each horse we train is placed on a program tailored specifically to the needs of the horse and rider, especially for the show ring.

Equitation

We have experience and expertise in the Equitation division, the true foundation of every strong, confident saddle seat rider. We expect all of our riders to be committed and dedicated to equitation and we’re passionate about bringing those riders to the show ring. For us, it’s paramount to match each horse and rider so they complement each other’s strengths and work with them to become a united, strong pair.

“I have known Dave Hysaw for many years. Two years ago he became one of my trainers at Reedannland, my father’s barn, and coached me daily on the many horses he was training. I moved Captain, the Reedannland horse I bought at the sale, to stay with Dave in his training operation with Jennefer Lear at Willow Falls Farm. We are looking forward to attending several shows this year.”

“I have been riding with Jennefer Lear from Willow Falls Farm for many, many years. I started as a complete novice in my thirties and progressed to horse ownership and a love of showing. It has been an amazing, positive experience throughout the years.

Jennefer, and now Dave, at Willow Falls Farm have an incredible work ethic and a clear love for what they do. They care deeply for their horses and for all of their customers, regardless of age or skill level. It has been a true joy to work with this team and I look forward to many more years with them.”
